2023-01-21 Xiao Qi Ji ~ At 29 Months Old, Big Changes Unfold

#PandaStory: Today our beloved Xiao Qi Ji celebrates his 29th month with Mei Xiang, an incredible milestone. Also today, during the time that they're usually indoors for the day (around 1:30pm to 2pm), Mei and Qi Ji were in room 4 and yard 3/4 together. At 4pm the Zoo closed and both Panda Cams were left on Tian's bedroom, so where were Mei and QJ?. The Panda Cams were switched back to Qi Ji and Mei's rooms around 5:15pm and both pandas were eating bamboo in room 2. Not sure what is going on, but this video was posted this week:

Clips today include Mei and Qi Ji sleeping together in the early hours of the 17th. Then we see Qi Ji doing some tree acrobatics, and then he bulldozed momma Mei while she was eating bamboo ... and that didn't sit well with her. He was definitely in a goofy mood. Once indoors Qi Ji indicated he wanted to nurse and Mei allowed it (but no audio). Later they were seen eating bamboo side by side ... and reminiscent of their early days, QJ was taking Mei's pieces!

Then on the 18th we saw Tian Tian scent marking the tree in yard 4 that Qi Ji investigated when he explored that enclosure. Next up is part of a training session for Qi Ji with his keeper.

After eating his bamboo and treats on Thursday the 19th Qi Ji decided to do some gymnastics on his hammock structure. In the afternoon the CO zoomed in on QJ's paw!

Early yesterday Qi Ji was at the keepers' fence anointing himself, on what is unclear, but he thoroughly enjoyed himself!

Then today's clips ~ Tian Tian sleeping in Yard 1 up near the Panda House. Early in the afternoon Qi Ji was enjoying a honey coated box (and honey coated paws) before he was reunited with his mother. Shortly after being reunited they had a lengthy play bout outdoors! Qi Ji seems to enjoy the challenge of trying to pull/roll Mei down the hill. A bit later Qi Ji and Mei received fruities in room 4, and were eating bamboo out in yard 3/4. And minutes before the Zoo closed, at 3:51pm, Qi Ji showed us that he indeed fits in the cubs' room pool!

We are incredibly blessed to have been a part of Xiao Qi Ji's journey these past 29 months!
