2022-11-11 Xiao Qi Ji ~ Anointing in Hay, An Apple a Day, & Challenging Mei!

#PandaStory: First clip is from Tues the 8th, Xiao Qi Ji found the hay in the nesting circles quite alluring ... so he anointed himself with the hay for quite awhile! From Wed we see Qi Ji at the keepers' fence anointing himself ... with what was not clear, but again he seemed very engaged. Meanwhile Mei was enjoying her me-time in Yard 3. Later they had quite the rolling play bout, so here are a few of the rolls the Panda Cam captured! Indoors Qi Ji sat in the tub, then had a lengthy splash-fest in the pool!

Early Thursday morning Mei Xiang and Xiao Qi Ji were sleeping together on the nesting circles. They've been seen quite a few nights snuggled together since the weather has turned cooler. They did have access to both yard 1 and yard 2, and we see a sweet moment in front of the keepers' fence.

Not sure what was going on on the other side of the window in room 3, but Qi Ji reacted to the person standing there (and there was an untimely refresh). When the cam came back he was still locking eyes with the person.

Outdoors he found an apple on the orange jug, claiming it before momma found it! Afterward he juggled the jug and ate treats off his tummy. Later Mei rested in Yard 2, Tian ate sugar cane, and Qi Ji took a nap atop the rockwork.

Today, Friday was a rainy cool day and Qi Ji spent a lot of time playing in the trees. First up he dangled quite awhile before he came out of the evergreen. Later he was dangling in another tree, and doing silly dismounts from the climbing structure! Up in his tree we can see him clearly now that it's shed its leaves, and he was bouncing on and biting the branches, before sliding down the branch to the ground.

This video ends with a play bout, only Mei, based on her behavior and vocalizations, clearly was not in the mood to play. But Qi Ji kept after her as he appeared super-charged by the weather!
