The Maasai of Amboseli Kenya 2006

Our first of three wonderful safaris to the great and vast continent of Africa was in 2006, when we traveled first to Kenya and then Tanzania, home of the great Serengeti National Park, a World Heritage Site. One of the most interesting sites we visited in Kenya was the Maasai village at Amboseli where we were treated to a culture which was very foreign to us. At one time, the Masai were considered very violent and great warriors, but for many years they have settled into the life of cattle owners. In fact, the worth of a Maasai man depends upon the size of his herd. The Masai are very beautiful people, and their women, with their hand made magnificent jewelry are extremely handsome, and very friendly. This was a visit to a culture which we will never forget. We returned to East Africa in 2008, but we did not visit Kenya because there been a great deal of tribal unrest in 2007. However, we returned once again to Tanzania which, at that time, was a much more stable country. Hope you enjoy as much as we did, and you get to see Africa for yourself one day!
