(38) Silas "Matt" Massey, 17th Inf. Regt.wmv

If you want to learn about the real effects of war, you need to speak to a field medic, and Matt Massey was just that during the two horrendous battles of Pork Chop Hill in April and July 1953. We can get the story from a GI who was in the thick of the hellish battle, but of necessity his story will be limited to the zone of action in which he was dirctly involved. Because of his mobility and the scope of his duty, it's possible to get a broader view of the battle which was taking place, and the deaths and injuries which were suffered by both sides. As they say: "War is hell!," even a so-called "forgotten war!"
