Baci-Inspired, Chocolate Cannoli: Hazelnut & Chocolate (e47)
Buon Giorno A Tutti! In this episode, Nonna Mia, la nonna di tutti (everyone's grandma), switches out the classic chopped pistachio and plain ricotta filling for chopped hazelnuts and heaps of chocolate (mini chocolate chips and cocoa), to create beautiful Baci-inspired chocolate cannoli!
In her last video, she demonstrates how to make the shells, so you can refer to that episode if you wish to make the shells from scratch.
Here, Nonna uses a mini-sized, store-purchased shell, which tastes great and saves a bunch of time.
Ingredients wise, you will need:
- cannoli shells (24 minis)
- 500 grams of ricotta, avoid light if you can
- 1/2 cup of icing sugar
- 1 teaspoon of Frangelico or if unavailable, essence of your choice
- 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips
Simply blend these ingredients together, then spoon filling into a ziplock plastic bag or similar, cut an end, and pipe into your cannoli shells. Dip both ends into chopped hazelnuts and then dust with icing sugar.
