2021-01-29 Xiao Qi Ji ~ Life Saver & Life Lessons

Day 161 #PandaStory: 2 scenes today, a play scene from yesterday afternoon, and Xiao Qi Ji's morning adventures on room 3's rockwork. WARNING: those that do not want to see him take a fall from the top of the rockwork, do not watch from 12:50 to18:30 (at least get to that point so you can see him finally figure out another way up the rockwork ~ a milestone!). Remember ~ negative comments will be deleted!

Today's title has a double meaning. Xiao Qi Ji plays with Mei's enrichment puzzle feeder, the "life saver" every time he encounters it! And for me personally (and maybe some of you too), Qi Ji's birth and journey has been an emotional and joyful life saver for me during these unprecedented times.

As far as life lessons, climbing and falling are all part of a Giant Panda cub's journey. While it's very difficult to watch, if he doesn't cry and if Mei Xiang doesn't run to him, he is probably okay (as you'll see in this video). Mei Xiang seemed to initiate the climbing lesson today as the first time she took him up and down the rockwork, the 2nd time he climbed up and assisted him down, it's the 3rd time that he goes up by himself that he falls. The 4th time he climbs up Mei is ever attentive and brings him down part way. As Marty said, cubs are built for this ~ they are tough, and durable, and have thick fur, dense bones. The other meaning for life lessons is again more personal as I'm sharing Xiao Qi Ji's journey with Mei Xiang in an attempt to teach, or show you the beauty and joy of watching these amazing animals interact and behave toward each other.
