Elvis Presley - Mr. Songman - From First Take to the Master

This is one of those songs that was always going to assume the role as album filler as opposed to potential hit. That being said, it is a nice little song with a nice medley and a lovely piano intro which acts as a hook into the song.
It was recorded by Elvis during the final batch of recording sessions in Memphis’ Stax studio during 1973. The sessions had begun in the summer, and included Elvis adding his vocal overdub to a few backing tracks recorded at Stax in his Palm Springs residence in September, before being concluded in December back in the studio in Memphis.
The final stretch ran between 10 and 16 December with “Mr Songman” being the first track recorded on the evening of 12 December 1973. It would find itself as the second track on the excellent “Promised Land” album, probably the best of the three to be compiled with tracks recorded over these sessions.

As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
