Elvis Presley - Can't Help Falling In Love Part 2 - Lake Tahoe - The Live Comparison Series Vol.101

Elvis gave one hundred and six shows at The Sahara Hotel in Lake Tahoe over five engagements between 20 July 1971 and 9 May 1976. Elvis appeared every year in this period apart from 1972 and 1975 but had two seasons in 1974.
The schedule mirrored that of his Las Vegas engagements with two show per day, dinner and midnight with the occasional special third 3am show. However, on three of the five opening nights Elvis gave two shows unlike in Vegas where it was usually just the single show apart from January 26 1974 where Elvis appeared twice. Also in keeping with the Las Vegas arrangements, the show included the full orchestra as opposed the scaled back version that he used on the road.
The shows in general showed Elvis far more relaxed as the differences in the audiences meant that he preferred appearing in Tahoe to Vegas. The main reason for this would be in that non fans in the audiences saw the show purely as a second piece of entertainment to gambling in the casinos.

There is currently only audio of three shows from Elvis’ inaugural Lake Tahoe engagement in the public domain. This is the only show from that trio which sees Elvis close the show with Can’t Help Falling In Love as the other two, a dinner show from 24 July and midnight show from 31 July are closed with Bridge Over Troubled Water and The Impossible Dream respectively. Unfortunately, the tape runs out before the show does and as a result this first version is therefore incomplete.
