How to Protect A Vacant Home in The Extreme Cold

I do a lot of house flips and many times we have vacant houses that are not being worked on and just sitting around waiting to sell after they are finished or waiting to be worked on when a contractor frees up. I live in Colorado and while our winters are usually pretty mild we have extreme cold spells once in a while. I made this video to show some of the things we check and do to protect the houses when they are vacant in the winter. You can and should do many of these things if you live in a house as well.

This is a house we bought a month ago and is waiting for a contractor to free up. It needs some work but we don't want to create more work for ourselves by freezing the pipes and flooding the house which has happened in the past!

We don't always do things right and sometimes we freeze houses and we have bought houses that have been frozen as well. A few simple things can help prevent the pipes from freezing or if the pipes do freeze, help prevent the house from flooding!
