Elvis Presley - Can't Help Falling In Love - 10 Aug 1970 Opening Show - Re-edited with Stereo Audio

Every Elvis fan knows that from his return to live performing on 31 July 1969 until his final show on 26 June 1977, his standard closing number was 'Can't Help Falling In Love'. The only exception to this was during January and February 1971, during his fourth Las Vegas engagement, where for one season only he would often alternate closing the show with a new addition - 'The Impossible Dream'.

Perhaps influenced by this, a couple of times during that run he sang 'Can't Help Falling In Love' in the middle of the show. The first of those was during the opening show on 26 January 1971 in which he made it a very touching tribute to Hollywood producer Hal B. Wallis. This tribute was because Hal B. Wallis was responsible for producing some of Elvis' most succesful movies. due to his association with Paramount Studios, including King Creole, G.I. Blues and the movie from which this song originates - Blue Hawaii.

At the beginning of his previous Las Vegas season in August 1970, however, it was business as usual with Can't Help Falling In Love at it's normal place closing the show. Although the version from the opening show on 10 August was filmed in it's entirety, unsurprisingly the version from midnight show of the 12th was chosen fro the movie since it immediately followed the magnificent version of Suspicious Minds from that show and so those two songs made a fitting end to the movie.
