Elvis Presley - Spring Fever - Movie Version - Re-edited with Stereo audio

It is the nature of musicals that many of the songs contained within do not work particularly well when taken out of the movie or play for which they were written, but conversely there are those which are so well written and performed, that they are capable of being "stand alone" songs. In regards to Elvis' movies there are many of both. but unfortunately there also those which are just so badly written that even with Elvis' best efforts, or sometimes with no effort as Elvis himself even knew nothing could be done for the song, that they are just completely forgettable.

"Spring Fever" from Elvis' 1965 MGM movie "Girl Happy" fits into the middle category of these three, which fits not too badly into the movie as a happy duet, although there are no particularly memorable tunes within the movie generally. Although seen in the movie as a duet, mainly with Shelley Fabares, it was recorded in the studio as a solo performance with the female vocals added later.

It was on 11 June 1964 at Radio Recorders' Studio B in Hollywood that Elvis recorded "Spring Fever", during the second of four evenings of soundtrack recordings for the movie. Elvis and the band ran through a mammoth TWENTY FOUR takes for this song, which is more remarkable when you consider that a timeless classic like Suspicious Minds was achieved in just eight takes.

For creation of the movie version of "Spring Fever", the master take was transferred from stereo to mono, some of Elvis'vocals removed and replaced with female vocals, which had been recorded on 22 June, at the same studio on 8 July.

As the actual movie version has never been released, it was necessary to undertake some creative editing, keeping the female vocals from the movie soundtrackitself to achieve the movie version.

As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
