Elvis Presley - In The Ghetto - 5 February 1970 Dinner Show - Las Vegas

In The Ghetto was recorded by Elvis at American Sound in Memphis on 21 January 1969. The song has since become one of his most enduring recordings, with a message as relevant today as the day it was recorded.
The song was one of two from this recording session included in the set list for his return to live performing on 31 July 1969 in Las Vegas. It was retained on the set list for his second Las Vegas engagement which began on 26 January 1970. Throughout that engagement, it was almost always segued with Walk A Mile In My Shoes with In The Ghetto the latter. This rendition is therefore a relatively rare solo rendition from the first half of the engagement.
As good as most of these live renditions are, they do not come even remotely close to recreating the emotional pull that the song intended. It is therefore a must that anyone wishing to discover this song with Elvis should always make the studio version their first port of call.
