Sea Kayaking... Oban Day 1: Easdale, Kerrera, Inch & Return Dec 2022

The Group joined up for our December meet and used Oban as a base for the flexibility of day kayaking giving access to a broader area as the weather would dictate.
Three of the group and myself met up a day early and with strengthening northerly winds against a flooding spring tide opted to start from Ellenabeich Easdale, to paddle North out of the stronger tidal streams that exist further South as they would have been against us for most of the day.
An early start, we set off from Easdale paddling around the point towards Oban and continued North to a point just South of the entrance to Loch Feochan, then across to the South Eastern corner of Kerrera and the ruined Gylen Castle, where we had lunch.
With the strengthening wind we decided to head out into the centre of the Firth of Lorn which would give us a straighter downwind run with the wind driven waves for some fun and assistance on our way back.
Staying with the waves for more surfing put us slightly off course to reach Inch Island but the slight detour was more than worth it with the extra fun benefit.
We then opted for the more interesting West side of Inch in the setting sun and finally made our way down and around the West side of Easdale Island turning north to our finish point at Ellenabeich.
An absolutely fabulous day in good company with great views in brilliant sunshine as we paddled into a stunning sunset to finish the day!!!!
