Ailsa Craig by Sea Kayak & Drone July 2021

A sea kayaking trip to Ailsa Craig, over 9 miles off the Ayrshire coast in July 2021.
The island is the remnants of a volcanic plug comprised of granite is renouned for its 'Curling Stones' and is 1 of only 2 producers of the stones used in the sport of Curling.
Six of us spent a cracking couple of days kayaking to and around the island, watching the wildlife, surrounded by thousands of Gannets and the various breeds of gulls that breed there every year. We spent our time exploring the old ruins, castle, fog horns lighthouse buildings and the old gas works used in the granite extraction processes.
A walk to the summit was a must for the breathtaking views despite the swirling mist at the top.
