Scarba Corryvreckan & Jura Sea Kayaking Sept 21 Episode 3

Final Episode of our 6 Day Sea Kayaking Trip through the famous Gulf of Corryvreckan and down the West coast of Jura to explore Ruantallain and back up around Scarba and the slate Islands.
Day 5: We leave the safety of 'Bay of Pigs' on the Northwest end of Jura to cross Corryveckan on the last of the flood stream and head up the West side of Scarba to avoid fighting against the strong Ebb stream at the top of Rubha Fiola and Ormsa in order to reach our camp spot on the flooded slate island of Belnahua.
A good explore of Belnahua around the flooded sections of the island with remnants of its old machinery and flights with the drone for some spectacular aerial views of the surrounding islands we'd paddle among and a short flight out to Fladda for views of the lighthouse and walled garden followed by a pleasant evening as we relaxed and watched the lovely sunset over the Garvellachs.

Day 6: Our final pack of the boats and we were on our way for an extremely short journey back to our start point and my waiting motorhome at Ellenabeich (Easdale).
This is up there with many of my favourite kayaking trips as it requires careful planning to use the fast tidal streams as a "bus service" if timed just right and the remoteness to remind you of being self sufficient, ever mindful as to weather forecasts (if you are able to receive any!) and having and ever watchful eye on the horizon for changing conditions.
However, if you get them wrong, it could have grave effects with the chance of being swept into violent overfalls and huge breaking, standing, waves!
