Sea Kayaking Tynemouth To Seaton Sluice November 2022
Sea Kayaking Adventures: Tynemouth to Seaton Sluice and Return, Nov 2022
An impromptu meet with Will and Mal on their home turf, launching from their Tynemouth Rowing Club base within the piers at Tynemouth.
A fantastic day in light but strengthening North Easterly wind conditions and just enough movement in the sea to enjoy a leisurely trip up this beautiful stretch of coastline. It had been decades since I've kayaked this stretch, always opting to paddle South from a nearer launch spot South of the Tyne entrance at South Shields.
Will and Mal were keen to reacquaint me with the area, picking out points of interest along the way, passing Tynemouth open air swimming pool, rock arches, Cullercoats Harbour, Old Victorian swimming pool, Whitley Bay's Spanish City, St Mary's Island, Seaton Sluice Cut and many more lovely spots along the way together with loads of play waves as we travelled North.
I've tried to research and include some of the history in the narrative from this area which once played an important part for work and commerce throughout the North East of Britain and hope you enjoy our little Sea Kayaking Adventure.
