With the Selection Tool active, the Properties panel will display an Edit Artboards button. Clicking this button is equivalent to clicking on the Artboard Tool within the Tools panel. The canvas can be manually resized with the mouse by clicking and dragging the corners or edges. The width and height can be precisely altered via fields within the Properties panel. To exit, click on the Exit button within the Properties panel or choose another tool from the Tools panel.

The Artboards panel can be opened via the Window menu. Clicking on the icon to the right of an artboard's name will open up the Artboard Options dialog box. Within here the width and height can be changed.
