In this video I show what is happening in Kyung Chang handcuffs when someone gets stuck in handcuffs because someone used a standard or different brand key in them.

It is likely to be more difficult to diagnose at a lockpicking village at a DEFCON talk when someone does this, because unless someone with knowledge and experience of cuffs does it, the person might not recall exactly what they did to get the key stuck.

So this video shows how it happens, why it happens, how you can use standard keys safely IF you are very careful. A TOOOL Ultimate handcuff key has more length and gives you a bit more warning to "turn back, you're going too far" but even with a TOOOL key in the hands of a total novice with handcuffs, they will very possibly turn too hard and get the key stuck. If a TOOOL key gets stuck, it's worse than a "standard" handcuff key because the extra length almost guarantees that if someone turns it back to try and remove the key, it WILL accidentally double lock and cause a bad day.

Another possible way of disengaging the double lock, without trying to do the whack attack, is by using a safety pin (or other pin) to manually force the double locking bar back, by digging into the small exposed part in the little empty window and trying to force it back to the open position.

Hopefully this will be interesting or useful to some people into handcuff collecting, lockpicking, locksport etc. Kyung Chang are South Korean handcuffs (not the crazy north lol). Very very lightweight.
