Hi guys, it seems clear to me, that Heathrow may be getting a new runway, what you think of that? Tell me your opinion in the comments below and don’t forget to subscribe.
In its most recent report, the airports Commission has recommended that Heathrow airport should be extended, to a third runway.
The Davies’s report recommended that there should be no night flights, and that strong restrictions should be put in place, in order to reduce noise levels and protect the surrounding environment.
They have also stated that a new runway could bring in £147 billion of economic growth as well as to create 70,000 jobs by 2050.
The commission also implied that a second runaway at Gatwick was doable, yet their first priority would be Heathrow, as they believe it would provide the country with ‘long haul connectivity, flights to emerging markets which are very important to the future of the British economy.’
However, the extension of Heathrow would require the demolition of 800 surrounding homes at a cost of just under £20 billion.
The commission faces strong opposition from environmental groups, resident organizations and the London Mayor, Boris Johnson.
