New 2024 Toyota Vellfire Hybrid - Spacious & Luxurious Family MPV | GR Sport | MODELLISTA

Toyota Motor Corporation has finally launched the new Toyota Vellfire luxury MPV globally. This follows the recent introduction of the opulent Lexus LM, a mechanically similar car built on the same TNGA-K platform.

The boxy minivan has a length of 4,995 mm and a large wheelbase of 3,000 mm. It is also 1,850 mm wide, with a height of 1,935 mm or 1,945 mm depending on the model and trim level.

The new model is an improvement over the previous one when it comes to design. The glasshouse on the sidewalls is one continuous unit that runs continuously from the front to the back. The headlamps are divided, with the LED DRLs in the bottom half, and are bordered by a large 6-slat grille with the Toyota emblem in the centre. A noticeable connecting chrome strip that forms a U-shaped design starts vertically below the headlight on one side of the chin and links to the opposite side. A big spoiler and V-shaped LED taillamps with plenty of chrome are added to the back.

On your way into the cabin of the Vellfire, you will step your feet on the new retractable side steps, which a first of its kind on any Toyota. Once you make your way in, you will notice a revamped dashboard that features a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system. Thanks to the updated platform, Toyota have managed to offer additional legroom of 5mm and 10mm for the second- and third-row, respectively. Toyota have also re-engineered the seats and claim they offer less vibrations and better comfort.

Toyota’s new minivans are based on the TNGA-K architecture which has been “optimized for minivan use” with McPherson struts at the front and an updated double wishbone suspension at the rear. Toyota engineers added straight rockers and a V-shaped brace on the rear section resulting in 50% improved rigidity compared to the previous generation. Furthermore, the Vellfire gets an additional Front Performance Brace and unique suspension tuning to justify its sportier character.

A 30% reduction in vibrations was made possible thanks to special adhesives, while a lot of attention was given to limiting the road and wind noise. Toyota suggests that the serenity and quietness you feel when you’re inside the Vellfire is like being in the middle of a forest.

The 2024 Toyota Vellfire comes with a 2.5L strong hybrid powertrain that puts out 250PS of power. Power is sent to all 4 wheels via Toyota’s e-four-wheel-drive system. The new Vellfire also offers a more-powerful 2.4L turbocharged petrol engine as a replacement for the older V6. The new engine churns out 275PS of power and 430Nm of torque. Toyota also revealed that plug-in-hybrid powertrain options for both the Vellfire and Alphard will be introduced later.
