New 2024 Toyota C-HR - Next Generation Stylish Coupe Hybrid SUV

The Japanese automaker previewed the second-generation Toyota C-HR via the Prologue concept in December 2022. Now, it’s time to see its production version in a flash. The crossover’s new model has been designed and developed in Europe, where it will go on sale in the first half of 2024.

The new 2024 Toyota C-HR measures 4360mm in length, 1830mm in width, and 1564mm in height. Compared to its predecessor, the new model is significantly wider, though the overall length remains unchanged. In fact, the crossover continues to sit on a 2640mm long wheelbase.

The outgoing Toyota C-HR was already a radical-looking SUV, and this new one has an even more crazy design which is almost identical to the C-HR Prologue concept from last year.

There are elements of other Toyota models found throughout, such as the sharp C-shaped LED headlights which are similar to the ones found on the new Prius. There’s also a large grille in the lower bumper, along with plenty of gloss black trim.

You have the option of two tone paint schemes to help your C-HR stand out even more, and the V-shaped rear door in a contrasting colour looks similar to the dinky Toyota Aygo X. Alloy wheels go up to 20-inches.

The rear spoiler makes it look more sporty, and it’s also been designed to optimise aerodynamics. That full-width light bar is a funky touch, and it says C-HR in the middle. This car has a similar coupe-esque shape to the outgoing model as well.

Inside, the eco-friendly concept continues with extended use of recycled plastics – double that of the first generation – including more than 100 different parts such as seat fabrics made from recycled PET bottles.

There’s also a new panoramic roof design featuring infra-red reducing coatings to help the interior “maintain at more even temperatures”, which Toyota claims negates the need for a conventional sunshade. This alone shaves 5kg in weight and frees up 30mm more headroom for occupants.

Other available features include a swish new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen running Toyota’s latest multimedia interface, sporting wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto. Toyota Connected Services also feature.

the new C-HR will be available in Europe exclusively with hybrid power. The 1.8-liter unit and the 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid setup come only in front-wheel-drive guise while the 2.0-liter hybrid can be had with optional AWD. In terms of power, the base 1.8-liter unit delivers a combined output of 140 hp , followed by the 2.0-liter setup with 198 hp , and the PHEV with 223 hp .

C-HR prices have yet to be announced, but they are expected to start from around £35,000
