Elvis Presley - It Won't Seem Like Christmas (Without You) - From First Take To The Master

With the primary aim of achieving enough recordings with which to compile a Christmas album, RCA booked Elvis into their studio B in Nashville for six days between 15 and 21 May 1971. Over the session, a total of thirty one masters were recorded, thirteen of which were of the festive variety, with the remainder standard studio recordings. In addition to the masters, Elvis' producer, Felton Jarvis, had also managed to capture on tape a further six recordings which were either informal or could be described as jams.

The very first festive song recorded at these sessions was "It Won't Seem Like Christmas (Without You) although it was actually the second track achieved with the first being "Miracle of The Rosary". "It Won't Seem Like Christmas (Without You)", in common with the other Christmas songs recorded, was released on "Elvis Sings The Wonderful World of Christmas" later in the year.

The master was achieved in seven takes with three other takes, three, five and six, also being complete takes of the song. All of the takes have been officially released although the undubbed master has only been released unofficially.
