Anyone Seen My Hat !
A quiet day Sea Kayaking off Tynemouth in Northumberland and a wave rears up out of nowhere breaks on top of me, caught off balance I capsize, first time in over 10 years!!
Aware of how close I was to the rocks on the point I start my roll too early without my paddle being on the surface, breaking the surface the paddle was vertical providing me no support, I quickly scull for support to regain a better position but the paddle was still deep, I struck with a mighty draw stroke towards the boat at the same time a strong hip flick and I was back upright once more.
Sadly my famous hat synonymous with my sea kayaking was nowhere to be seen!! My hat was gone and I was gutted but the worst part was my paddle mates hadn't seen a thing and continued paddling on.
