From the outside working in, the story of this timepiece starts with a high-polished, stainless steel, double deployment buckle. The advantage of the double deployment is that it joins with the opposite side of the strap and creates a continuous loop around the wrist such that the watch can't accidentally slip off while you are donning or removing it. It's paired with a black, monotone stitch, ultra thin, alligator leather strap. Alligator on the top for formality and durability and supple calfskin on the bottom where it touches the wrist.

The watch features semi-conforming curved spring bars that trace the arc of the case for a more coherent aesthetic and additional elegance. The 39 mm polished stainless steel case features a number of nuanced elements that enrich its aesthetic. You can see the subtle bevel on the flank of the lugs. Also, the step to the bezel that creates a strong, horizontal character line.

Sensuous compound curves along the flanks are met with a knife-edge profile that accentuates the slim height of the watch only 9.8 mm above the wrist. Because of the knife-edge profile, it appears even thinner. The dial of the watch is a silver Sunray, so the grain radiates out from the cannon pinion, or the junction of the hands at center. It features a dimple-style minute track outboard of applied and faceted dart-style hour indices. The watch features Guichet, countersunk sub-registers for the power reserve, the radial date, and subseconds. There's a variety of hand styles on the dial. Dauphines, half-frosted for contrast at center. Alpha-style hands for the power reserve scale and the radial date. At 6:00, a simple Lancet-style hand for the discreet subseconds.

On the case back, you can see the Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture caliber 938, 237 parts, 41 jewels. It is automatic with a 43-hour power reserve. That 43-hour power reserve is energized by a winding rotor that operates with unidirectional action. Jaeger-LeCoultre has trialed both bidirectional and unidirectional and found that unidirectional is more efficient and tops off the watch more quickly. That advantage is compounded by un-lubricated ceramic rotor bearings for high-efficiency operation and long-wearing durability. The balance, beating at 4 Herz, is also free-sprung, a refinement that allows additional resistance to shock-induced timing deviation.

The watch also features the refinement of hacking, such that when the crown is pulled to extremity, the balance effectively hacks or stops. This arrests the seconds hand and allows the watch to be set precisely to a known accurate reference time. The movement is contained within the case, ensconced by 5 ATM or 50 meter water resistance for robust resistance to splashes and rain.
