The IWC Big Ingenieur Chronograph lives up to it's "Big Ingenieur" name. It is a modern take on the classic Gerald Genta design and the Jumbo Ingenieurs from the 1970s. The watch has a 45mm case not including the crown or chronograph pushers. It is more defined by it's thickness and lug to lug span. It's 15mm thick and 56.5mm across the wrist. IWC cleverly uses an under-slug strap.

You'll see that the pin point where the strap attaches and pivots is sunken downwards. This unique design allows the strap to come straight downwards and bend downwards around the wrist. The strap is tapered and integrated, found with a black monotone strap. The bottom is lined with rubber versus calfskin, helping to maintain the life of the strap.

The Big Ingenieur has some differentiating characteristics versus other models. You can see that the chronograph pushers are more inline with the case. There is a 60-second scale around the outer dial.

The watch has an in-house caliber 89361, a 68-hour bi-direction winding, flyback column wheel, vertical clutch chronograph. This also has a 120m water resistance thanks to the screw down crown, a free sprung balance leading to extra shock resistance, and hacking seconds for easy setting and a quick set date. The chronograph is recorded in a mono-counter. Keeping the dial balanced and clean. Hours and minutes are recorded together, chronograph seconds are at center and constant sub seconds are found at 6 o'clock.
