Today we are exploring the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph. The watch has a nice stance that is not overwhelming with its lug to lug measurement of 51mm. Across the broad of the case, the piece measures 42.5mm. It is just 12mm thick with a generously sloped bezel, making it easily slid under a dress sleeve cuff.

There is quite a bit of heft to the watch due to the solid caseback, soft iron inner case around the movement, and bracelet. The bracelet pulls straight down, making it easily worn on a small wrist with security and the appearance of proportion. It features a maltese cross theme along the center joinery and is faceted and alternately polished. The bracelet is finished with a twin-trigger release double-fold deployment buckle, adding a great deal of security.

The caseback features an engraved fully rigged ship that is tribute to Constantin's early 19th century trip to the United States and Canada. He maintained strength in these markets despite the distance and span of ocean.

The case is polished on the flanks and bevel, but is satin-finished on the top. The dial features depth, detail, and calculated symmetry. Large white gold indices and hands feature significant loom, giving it easy visibility in low light. The dial includes a minutes subdial at the 3 o'clock mark and a constant seconds subdial at the 6 o'clock mark. In addition, there is a grand date with quick set function at 12 o'clock. Unfortunately, this function is no longer featured on newer models of this piece.

This piece features Vacheron's caliber 1137 with 40 hour power reserve and automatic winding.
