Today we are discussing the Cartier Calibre de Cartier. When debuted in 2010, the Calibre de Cartier MC 1904 combination represented a step forward for Cartier as manufacturer. Previously known as a manufacturer of high style, it was rarely noted as a manufacturer of movements. Since 2010 it has made a name for itself in the broad mid-market of higher horology and high complication realm.

Across the round of the case, it measures 42mm. In addition, it is remarkably slim and measures just 10mm thick. It is interesting to note that the bezel is higher than the sapphire, increasing the longevity of the sapphire. From extremity to extremity, the watch measures 48.5mm. For a timepiece this large, it wears relatively small and with security and proportion due to the generously sculpted lugs.

This watch is really set apart from others with its underslung strap that creates a completely integrated aesthetic. The strap features gloss alligator with supple calf skin on the underside. Screws secure the strap to the lugs, adding another level of security. A single-fold deployment buckle with minder system finish the watch and create a very clean, polished look.

The highlight of this piece is the baroque dial. The case features delicate finishing, such as the compound curves, bevel, and curves. Applied stylized indices are an upscale feature and create a modern-day California dial. The dial features a sub seconds dial and triple date window.

An exhibition caseback covers an MC 1904 PS4 caliber. This piece is automatic winding and has twin mainspring barrels that provide a steady release of torque throughout the 48 hour power reserve.
