This video lesson is a celebration of the late great Criss Oliva's guitar playing and was recorded on his birthday April 3rd, (2024). Criss was born in 1963 and would have been 61 today. Happy birthday Criss!

The solo we're looking at is from the emotional ballad "When The Crowds Are Gone" from 1989's Gutter Ballet record.

This is a short solo but contains lots of great bending and phrasing licks along with a fast rolling legato lick at the end you must know! Overall most of you should be able to handle this solo, but playing it cleanly may be a challenge for some. Take your time with it. I think I said D Dorian but I meant A Dorian along with minor pentatonic and A Aeolian are the scales being used.
