What Does "Grounding" Mean From a Postural Restoration Perspective? My Thoughts.
The word "grounding" has a very personal role in my life. "Ground" is what I couldn't sense on the left side under my left foot.
For me it started with a visual system that didn't let me perceive the ground on the left side appropriately. The visual issue may have developed in my early childhood along with a left foot that had a bit too high of an arch.
There is nothing more important for normal non compensatory muscle function than sense of the ground. Without sense of the ground, our left hip musculature can't work to stabilize our pelvis and femur on the left side. We also lose our left internal obliques that must be used to hold our ribcage in proper position during torso rotation and inhalation.
Proper grounding is necessary for any Postural Restoration exercises to work.
