A rapper from California has been arrested for stealing $1.2 million in unemployment benefits, and was charged with access device fraud, aggravated identity theft, and interstate transportation of stolen property.

What sets this case apart from other fraudulent unemployment claims is that this entertainer, who goes by the name Nuke Bizzle, rapped about committing unemployment fraud in his song lyrics!

In a video from September 10th titled “EDD,” which stands for the California Employment Development Department (EDD), the rapper held up multiple unemployment envelopes and showed off his: “swagger for EDD.”

He raps in the video: 'I just got rich off of EDD...I just woke up to 300 Gs.'

With police gathering at least 92 prepaid debit cards worth an estimated $1.2 million, Nuke Bizzle could be facing some serious federal time for his actions, as well as his words.

Meanwhile, as so many of you out there know, the economy and personal financial accounts have been ravaged due to the loss of those weekly $600 unemployment benefits.

New data that examined the financial behaviours of Chase customers found that after the Federal unemployment benefits ended in July, spending and funds left in consumer checking accounts fell significantly.

This report shows that due to the end of the weekly $600 payments in August, households with unemployed workers are no longer able to build up their cash reserves.

The report states: “The August spending decline among jobless workers ... shows no signs of having plateaued, suggesting that that in future months, in the absence of additional government support, spending among the unemployed could likely decline below August levels.”

It seems like every day sees a new report or an economist calling for more extended enhanced unemployment benefits, and I think it’s time that Congress finally listens up.

Finally, it seems like just about every state is in the process of receiving, or has already obtained the full 6 weeks of LWA unemployment benefits.

I talked about Nevada LWA benefits hitting bank accounts over the weekend, with most unemployment claimants receiving payment for the first 3 weeks of funds.

I’m also hearing that Alaska and New Jersey are set to begin distributing these weekly $300 unemployment benefits starting today.

Meanwhile, Kansas and Wisconsin hope to begin disbursing unemployment benefits by the end of the month, so let me know if you are from these states and when you actually see money in your bank account.

If you still haven’t applied for unemployment assistance, kick off the week by claiming your unemployment benefits that will help get you through this rocky 2020.

Just visit your state’s PUA or UI website, give them your employment documents, and let them know that you are currently out of work due to that thing out there.
