FLEA MARKET FINDS IN WHITE CLOUD | ANTIQUE & VINTAGE RESELLING

More dealers set up overnight at the White Cloud Antique & Collectibles Flea Market, so I’m back for a second round of shopping and exploring! Fresh fields of farm finds, toys, furniture and some fun pop-up antique shops in the usually vacant downtown make me glad for this return visit.

Just 10 minutes from the antique market where I’m selling in Sparks, Kansas, the town of White Cloud holds its event simultaneously, and thousands visit both towns. That means we find a vast variety of antiques and vintage. There’s also several interesting takes on giving old items new life through repurposing, including the reuse of the town’s old farm implement store by a reseller specializing in old farm implements.

I lose my marbles at this flea market, but Roger Rush has them all in his shop, and is kind enough to give us a good rundown on what makes these once cheap kiddie toys valuable now! Toys appear in several places at this market, from Cox remote controlled airplanes to board games ranging from sweet to creepy.

Millefiori jewelry occupies a case well guarded by vintage pistols in the neighboring showcase. White Cloud’s offerings run the gamut, so we find stylish Ceramic Arts Studio dancers among Royal Copley dogs and 1950s pottery tigers. For the political season, dealers trot out pinbacks from campaigns as far back as McKinley-Roosevelt of 1900, while a wheelchair evocative of those used by FDR’s aides is a surprise hiding under a tent.
