Supine Pranayama Introduction Part 1 of 4

Lillah Schwartz teaches us the setup for Pranayama lying down, using blankets. Blankets should properly support the body on three levels. 4 blankets are used in this setup. Take the time to set this up correctly so the body is comfortable and properly aligned.

She also teaches the breathing technique for Pranayama. Breath work is an important concept. Breath should be even length on inhale and exhale. Ujjayi breathing is used during this demonstration.

Practicing Ujjayi breathing can;
Increase the amount of oxygen in the blood
Build internal body heat
Relieve tension and promotes relaxation
Encourage free flow of prana
