Best Of Artists - Ingmar Bergman - Cinematography

Ingmar Bergman was a Swedish film and theater director and screenwriter, considered one of the key film directors of the second half of the XX century. As a teenager he saw the corpse of a young woman and was about to touch her genitals. Touch and death are his great themes, and he is influenced by the theater. God died first, then the people. He shows how people constantly humiliate themselves. Faces are symbols. A Summer with Monika (1953) shows sensuality. The Seventh Seal (1957) is set in the Middle Ages. A crusader who returns after the war and questions God. Winter Light (1963) is about a pastor who stops believing in God. Perhaps his most important film is Persona (1966). It is one of his most audacious films, from a formal point of view, since it introduces numerous avant-garde elements from the renovating currents of French nouvelle vague and Anglo-Saxon free cinema.
