Modern Art is a term to depict the art of XX century and onwards. It represents the opposite to traditional art, and it is mostly an aesthetic concept. The end of it would be the postmodernism, where it is impossible to create anything original, only reinterpretations. There are many movements, and the production is so wide that it is impossible to know all.
Movements. In XX century there appeared many different movements. Avant-garde. The ones that will appear in this section are fauvism, expressionism, cubism, futurism, abstraction and neoplasticism, constructivism, dadaism, surrealism, informalism and neofiguration, pop art, neorrealism, minimalism, hyperrealism and postmodernism.
Constructivism. It happened between 1914-1924. It began after the Russian Revolution and ended with the start of the URSS. The artists made revolutionary propagandistic artworks, but also abstract geometrical artworks.
Painting: it is the Suprematism, with the use of simple geometrical forms as the square and circle and white and black colors.
Kazimir Malevich: founder of suprematism. Suprematism, Black square over white background, White square over white background, Black circle, Black and red cross
Liubov Popova: Philosopher, Model, Jar over a table
Olga Rozanova: Green line, Smith, Suprematism
Aleksandr Rodchenko: already mentioned in Photographic Art, he made posters. Kino Glaz, Potemkin
Sculpture
Anton Pevsner: artwork in Hague, Netherlands
Naum Gabo: Fountain in London, Artwork in Rotterdam
Architecture: that is the true Russian Constructivism. Use of simple lines and industrial materials.
Vladimir Tatlin: he made sculptorical abstract pieces. Tower of the III International, or Tatlin Tower
Vladimir Shukhov: he made the Shukhov Tower, usually compared with Eiffel Tower
Music: Pulcinella Suite by Stravinsky
