Tech Tip: How to easily dampen your cymbal using gaffer tape!
.
.
.
As we all know, when it comes to drums, the sounds we create are not just limited to the traditional tools.

Controlling our cymbal sound is one of those things.

For many of us, this really depends on whether you play a lot of studio sessions or like manipulating the sounds of your current cymbals to get the most out of them.

This has traditionally been done with gaffer tape.

The reason this works so well is that gaffer tape is relatively inexpensive, you can use a roll for a lot of things, and it lasts for a long time.

This roll of 1” x 8 yd gaff I got in a four-pack of micro-Gaffer from @bhphoto in NY a while back for about $19.

Over time, it has paid for itself by all the things I have been able to dampen or control with it.

Just remember to take off the tape immediately after the session or gig. If you leave it on there too long the tape leaves a sticky residue on the cymbals and that's a pain to get off.

Give it a try. You never know when this product could come in handy.

What do you guys think? Have you ever experimented with unique ways to dampen/control your cymbals? Have you ever thought of using this hack? Leave a comment. Let’s talk about it!

Stay creative, and have a great rest of the week. Love you, guys!! Okay. Byeeeee. 🥁🤓👊🏻❤️🙏🏻
