Have you ever tuned a snare like this? #shorts #short #control #dot #tone #drums #snaredrum #drum

Get That Sound: 14” x 6.5” present Medium High Tuning Process
.
.
.
Mahogany has a rich, versatile sound, especially with a thin shell and a 45-degree bearing edge. This snare can do it all but I'm loving it in this tuning.
Let’s get into it. 🥁
This tuning is built on a well-tuned snare-side head and properly tensioned snare wires.
With that said, the snare-side head is tuned tight, sitting at 369 Hz (F Sharpe 4), while still maintaining some give. The snare wires also have just the right amount of tension, not too tight or too loose, allowing them to breathe without sounding choked.
This setup gives the snare drum great sensitivity and articulation, even at lower tuning.
Now, the batter-side tuning is a little more involved.
For starters, I evenly finger-tighten each tension rod as much as possible until I can’t pull them any further with the Pull Cord Drum Key.
After finger-tightening, I use quarter turns to gradually increase the tension.
This approach adds enough tension while still letting you clearly hear the shell and head working together
The secret sauce in this process comes down to the drum key technique and drumhead choice.
The drum key technique helps me keep track of the tension and know exactly how much further I need to go to reach the desired pitch.
After that, I fine-tune and check pitches with the @tunebotdrum just for reference and learning.
The @evansdrumheads G12 Coated Snare drumhead delivers a single-ply feel with two-ply durability, which provides a deeper fundamental tone and enhanced projection.
This 14” x 6.5” mahogany snare drum tightens up quickly, so having solid drum key control and knowing your drumhead is essential to nailing that sweet spot.
What do you guys think? How do you achieve a present yet beefy medium-high snare sound? Does your process look similar to this? Drop a comment and let’s talk about it!
Love you, guys!! Okay, byeeeee! 🥁🤓❤️
