Esporta Fitness Review: Is It the Same as LA Fitness?

If you’ve ever seen an Esporta Fitness, you might have thought the building looked eerily familiar. Well, you weren’t wrong! Esporta Fitness is actually a gym brand under the LA Fitness umbrella. The facilities look and feel almost exactly like LA Fitness, but come with a price tag that’s more competitive with budget gyms.

In fact, you can even use your LA Fitness membership at Esporta in many places.

However, one question remains. If you’re shopping for a new gym, is Esporta Fitness worth the price? Will it have all the equipment and amenities you need to be at your best? Let’s take a look.

How much does Esporta Fitness cost?

Esporta Fitness offers clients three different membership packages:

The Basic single club membership starts at nine ninety-nine per month plus an initiation fee, and gets you access to equipment only at just one club. With this membership, you won’t be able to take advantage of some of the other amenities at the gym, but this package compares nicely to budget gyms like Planet Fitness.

If you’re willing to shell out a little more, you can try the Single State or Multi State memberships which start at twenty-five ninety-nine per month. These memberships let you visit different Esporta locations across your state or the country, and also include access to areas like the sporting courts and swimming pool.

Look out for special promotions in your area. Esporta sometimes offers the first month for just one dollar, and they’ll typically allow a three-day trial pass for anyone who wants to test-drive the facilities before signing up.

Esporta Fitness Equipment, Features & Amenities

Now that we’ve covered what it costs to get in the doors, let’s take a look at what your hard-earned dollar gets you at Esporta Fitness.
---

Equipment

Typically, Esporta locations look exactly like an LA Fitness. That means you can expect a great variety and quantity of equipment, though some locations may be bigger or smaller than others.

Expect all the usual cardio suspects including treadmills, bikes, stair machines, and rowing machines. Esporta also has a fantastic strength training area with free weights, power racks, and everything you need for a strength workout.

Some locations even have plyometric boxes and an Olympic weight lifting area.
---

Group Classes

As part of the two upper level memberships, clients at Esporta Fitness can take part in a wide variety of group fitness classes.

Classes and schedules vary from location to location, but you can usually expect to find workouts like:

Aqua Fit
Cycling
Kickboxing
Pilates
Yoga
Zumba
And more!
---

Pool & Spa

Most Esporta Fitness locations will offer a heated Junior Olympic-sized swimming pool for group classes or free lap swimming as well as a hot tub. Remember, though, you’ll need to have more than just the basic membership in order to access the aquatics here.
---

Child Care

Unlike most budget gyms, Esporta Fitness does indeed offer child care services for parents who need a little extra help getting their workouts in. Of course, like so many of the perks at Esporta, you’ll have to pay extra for this amenity.

Depending on the level of membership and the location, the rates for “Kids Klub” start at approximately ten dollars per month, which is a pretty solid deal.

Drawbacks to Esporta Fitness

Esporta Fitness is a great alternative to budget gyms like Planet Fitness or Crunch, but it’s not perfect. It has some drawbacks of its own and won’t be the right fit for everyone.

For starters, make sure you read the fine print on your contract. Some members have complained that while cheap memberships got them in the door, they soon discovered hidden fees that weren’t clear up front.

According to online reviews, Esporta Fitness also tends to suffer from high staff turnover which can lead to less than ideal conditions at the gym — especially concerning cleanliness and staffing in the Kids Club.

Finally, the biggest drawback with Esporta is that all the best amenities at the gym cost extra. If you just need a cheap place to work out, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better deal. But if you’re looking for pool access or group classes, your better off exploring other mid-range gyms like LA Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, or the YMCA.

Starting at nine ninety-nine per month, you likely won’t find a better budget-friendly gym with as good of a selection of equipment as Esporta Fitness.

However, remember that the basic membership does not get you access to many of the nicer amenities you’ll see at most facilities like the pool, sporting courts, group classes, and more.

Just remember that if you decide to upgrade to a higher-end membership, the prices are still fair, but more inline with a typical mid-range gym.

Overall, Esporta Fitness is well worth the price and definitely worth a trial run while you’re gym shopping! Try it and see for yourself before you sign any contracts.
