‘Well done’: Nigel Farage praises Voice defeat as Australia’s Brexit moment

Former Brexit leader Nigel Farage has praised Australians for rejecting the Voice to Parliament at the referendum last Saturday.

His remarks come after the proposal was overwhelmingly defeated 60 to 40.

“I remember the morning after the Brexit referendum seven years ago,” Mr Farage told Sky News host Paul Murray.

“I stood on a green outside the houses of parliament and I said this is a victory for the little people, for ordinary people, for decent people, against an out-to-touch political and media class and bullying big corporate businesses.”

He said his response to the Voice referendum result is “exactly the same”.

“The fact that Canberra voted Yes makes the whole thing sweeter and better, but it just shows you they are completely out of touch – well done Australia.”
