'Shooting from the hip': Warning labels on alcohol slammed
Alcohol Beverages Australia Executive Director Adele Young says calls for health warning labels on alcoholic beverages is a “shoot from the hip idea” and is still a “nonproven” approach.
"We drink 30 per cent less than in the seventies at its peak,” she told Sky News host Caleb Bond.
“We are certainly drinking better quality alcohol and less of it.
“Young people risking drinking too much should be discouraged and we should support people who do have a problem.
“That small small percentage of the community who do suffer harm from alcohol products, that’s where the effort needs to be.”
