Raised diamonds are old designs still in fashion nowadays. We find it in car interiors and some furniture. I want to share a sample I performed on leather material 1.3 thick. This sample would have looked much better and the process easier with a thinner and softer leather no more than 1 mm thick.
To make the rhombs I have used 6 mm thick Eva foam which is ideal to shape the square diamonds.
I have used a thin canvas fabric as backing. To make the sewing process easier I had to manufacture a special narrow foot out of iron. It has the advantage that it freely runs in the cavity formed between the foam squares. The gap between the squares is 7 mm considering the leather thickness which is 1. 3 for one side plus 1.3 mm for the other side, giving us enough room for the foot which runs with no difficulty.
This new foot was designed for a longer height to a maximum of 30 mm. I will make demonstrations in the next video.
Above all the most important is to encourage enthusiastic people to set the imagination flying and enter into the marvelous upholstery world.
I hope you enjoy and find some inspiration in this video!
