Once again I am sharing some tips regarding headrests. It happens that some designs such as the one I show in the video whose covers are almost impossible to remove.
Why? It is because the foam that shapes the headrest was molded-injected with the cover together and it is well adhered on its reverse side.As you can see everything starts out from a stock cardboard mold.
BTW, this technique is taught in our basic courses. After the molds are placed over the fabric material they should be flattened to get flat pieces of fabric. We should not overlook the sewing reference notches which will be useful during the sewing process.
To ease the fitting process I had to remove the metal frame, otherwise it would be very difficult to perform this process. The metal frame is reinserted again and some glue is pasted inside to the foam pieces I tore off.At the end of the video we can see how the blind hand stitching is also useful to close the headrest lower lips.
I hope you find these tips useful!
