The Infantry Doesn't Need Bullets to Be Deadly

Out of bullets and with the enemy around the corner, even modern soldiers can be forced to use hand-to-hand combat.

In the Army, hand-to-hand combat courses offer real-life fighting skills to develop a warrior mindset in soldiers to defeat enemies without weapons and react quickly in a physical engagement at a short distance.

This training includes martial arts such as wrestling, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Krav Maga, Sambo, Muay Thai, boxing, and Judo to improve the entire unit’s mental strength, fitness, confidence, and physical power.

During martial arts training, soldiers learn how to disarm the enemy, perform effective takedowns, maintain the mount, grappling basics, advanced choking techniques, shoulder dislocation, counterstrikes, and more.

The training is bloody and soldiers can get hurt, but realistic training will build confidence that a soldier is never unarmed on the battlefield and create the mental and physical toughness needed to survive a literal hand to hand fight with the enemy.
