F-35 Lightning Fighter Jet in Action

The F-35 Lightning has faced decades of controversy and cost overruns, but after years of delays, the F-35 has reached operational capability across all US service branches and over a dozen countries worldwide. But what makes this fighter so special?
The F-35 has three variants based on one core model. The F-35A is cleared only for takeoff from fixed runways, the F-35B is capable of vertical takeoffs and landings, and the F-35C is able to launch and recover from aircraft carriers.
The F-35 has impressive stealth capability. Some estimates place the radar cross section as small as a golf ball, while Its electronic warfare capabilities make it as competent an aircraft as the E/A-18G Growler but in a stealth fighter package.
The aircraft can carry any missile and bomb type in the US inventory, and can reach speeds up to Mach 1.6 while using its afterburners. Though the aircraft is less powerful than the F-22, it does have a much larger fuel capacity than similar aircraft giving it a longer range to take out targets.
