Master the Minor Pentatonic Shape Two on Guitar - Episode 6 - Mr V's Guitar Journ(ey)

This week's lesson/journal entry has us permanently locking in shape two of Minor Pentatonic into our mind and muscle memory. We're gonna kick butt this week! We are ready! Right?

For the next four weeks, we'll work on individual shapes. I'm skipping shape one because, for me, that one is already completely memorized. Only focusing on shape two this week. If you need work on shape one, then do these sequences on one first.

Stay until the end for a bonus visualization technique secret.

Use a time keeper and/or backing track. Set your timer for 4 minutes and dive in! Do these sequence exercises for 4 minutes each:
1. Down & Up (start on high E string) over-and over (extra credit, sing degrees and/or note names.
2. Root only
3. All around root
4. Interval jumps
5. Double notes Down & Up
6. In three's/Triplets... 123, 234, 345.... Play down & up
7. 4 step repeats - play 1234,1234, 2345,2345, 3456,3456 all the way up and back down.

This week when you are noodling or improvising licks and solos, make sure you only focus on shape two!

Also, for this week put yourself to sleep thinking/dreaming about shape two. Visualize it, and mentally go up and down the scale pattern until you fall asleep. Try imagining each tone pitch as you mentally travel around your dreamy fretboard!
