Perfect Fifth Ear Training - Episode 13 - Mr V's Guitar Journ(ey)

Today we'll start mastering the Perfect Fifth! We are three months in and we have mastered memorizing the 5 boxes (pattern shapes) of minor pentatonic. This week's episode has us practicing Perfect Fifths. And, also the minor pentatonic scale vertically on the B string (2nd string). Moving up and down the length of the fretboard on B, singing the scale degrees (root, bIII, IV, V, bVII) and the notes (if you're practicing in Gm like me, then your notes will be: G, Bb, C, D, F). Also, we will do the minor pentatonic zig-zag (watch the video to find out what the heck that means). Let's do this!

This week when you are noodling or improvising licks and solos, make sure you focus some on playing the minor pentatonic notes on the B string!

As in previous episodes, for this week put yourself to sleep thinking/dreaming about the minor pentatonic. Visualize it, and mentally go up and down the strings (and patterns) until you fall asleep. Try imagining each tone pitch as you mentally travel around your dreamy fretboard!
