What happens when you chip a tooth? After your dentist takes a look, you'll be given some options.

Depending on the size of the break (and the comfort level of the dentist), a composite filling can be placed to restore the chipped portion. However, if the break is too big, filling the broken part of the tooth may be unpredictable.

In this case I show here, although this person's tooth was significantly chipped, we were confident in being able to restore it with a front tooth filling, instead of jumping straight to a crown.

The dental esthetics of a restoration like this one can be very pleasing, although are typically not as ideal as a porcelain restoration such as a veneer or crown.

What matters most is that the patient is happy. Often times, a very good looking white filling with a great value will leave the patient thrilled :)
