How Silver Fillings are Removed

So your dentist told you that you need a few silver fillings replaced... But how will your dentist actually go about getting the metal removed?

Amalgam fillings, also known as alloy fillings, silver mercury fillings or just silver fillings, are a common type of dental restoration. As with every dental restoration, they too can fail, and allow decay (i.e. a tooth cavity) to develop underneath.

In this video, I'm going to cover exactly how silver fillings are removed, and then show you one possible way in which a tooth could be restored following the removal of the amalgam filling: a Porcelain Dental Crown.
