Tribal Folk RU Youth Festival -GYV
Collegians of Ranchi were in high spirits as Ranchi University’s first inter college youth fest ‘Akhra’ concluded on November 9 at Gossner College. Students from 17 colleges from across the city participated in the event.
The festival got off to a colourful start with a flag march by students of different colleges. Inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of university Ramesh Kumar Pandey, the event kicked off with a classical dance competition.
Amidst all the cultural events and interactions, the joyous students also took a pledge to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming assembly elections.
On day one, skit, classical dance and song, poster making and photography competitions kept the audience awe-struck. The ambience of celebration and joy was palpable as youngsters took selfies and danced in the campus. The second and concluding day included one act play and group song competitions. Students had to perform a folk and patriotic song in the Indian segment.
Marwari College claimed top position leaving Women’s College and Gossner College at second and third positions respectively.
“We had performed on several platforms but we always missed having our own youth fest. I thank the administration for organising such great event and giving us a chance to perform before our peers and friends”, Vishal Dangi, a participant of Indian group song said.
Mandar College won Tribal dance competition while Nirmala College claimed the apex spot in classical dance competition. Women’s college and Ranchi University won the top two positions in the Indian group song category.
The winners of this competition will represent Ranchi University and try their luck in upcoming East Zone Youth Festival which is going to be held next week in Guwahati.
“It is a matter of great pride for me that Ranchi University’s first youth festival is being organised at our college. I am happy that I am a part of it,” a student of Biotechnology at Gossner College said.
