Folk dance, Kurukshetra University at Unifest-2018 (GYV)

Folk/tribal dance competition was organised at Tana Bhagat indoor stadium in which 15 teams from different universities participated. Here students of Kurukshetra Univerrsity, Haryana perform Haryanwi folk dance in full vigour.
It was a kaleidoscope of colours at the 33rd National Inter University Youth Fest, UNIFEST Palash
2018, with over 1700 participants gathering at Khelgaon Campus for a 5 day long cultural
extravaganza that began on February 16 morning. 42 of the 87 expected colleges reported for the
ceremonial march past tableau in the evening, with Governor Draupadi Murmu present at the
inaugural function at Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium of Khelgaon.
The participants will be competing against each other over the next three days in 25 different
competitions, with the final valedictorian ceremony scheduled for February 20. The students from all the universities were
provided accommodation in Khelgaon itself and they participated in the events scheduled
from Saturday,
This is the first time since it;s foundation in 1960 that Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has
bestowed Ranchi University with the responsibility to host the National Youth Festival. The
responsibility to host the event was handed over to Ranchi University in June 2017. This year’s
edition is named ‘Palash’ after the indigenous red blooms of Jharkhand that mark the onset of
spring.
The entrants at the National Level Inter University Youth Fest are winners across Zonal Level Youth
Festivals held across the country. Organised in joint coordination of the Ministry of Art, Culture and
Youth Affairs and AIU, the National Youth Fest will be a stage for young talents to come forward and
showcase their talents across various genres.
