This second video shows a way of training 'how to diamond tuft'. The 'blind sewings' help a lot to form the pleats...these sewing are useful as a guide to ease the practice or training. I would advise you to start with two or three rows/lines of diamonds...it can be done horizontal, instead of vertical as my project.
This training would make us understand 'how to do real diamond tuft' and, after some practice you would be capable of doing it with no sewings.
If you are going to do a headboard, I would advise the use of a 1/2" of an inch board/plywood. I am using a thin plywood, because that is what I had at hand to perform my project...I tried to reinforce it with a wood frame.
